As we were going to bed Sydney prayed, " God thank you for this day and thank you for my mom and for big hula hoops, amen."

Sydney's Surgery
Sydney's surgery was 3 days ago and it seems like a year has gone by. Sydney's eyes are in alignment and look great. At this point, we think the surgery was a sucess and she looks great. We go back to the Dr in a week and a half to do some tests to see how the eyes are truely aligning.
Sydney did an amazing job through the whole thing. She was such a trooper. Unfortunatly her body had a hard time with the anesthetic. The day of the surgery was by far one of the hardest days Nathan and I have ever had. Sydney was became unconsolable about 2 hours after the surgery (we think it was after all the pain medicine wore off). She cried for about 6 or so hours. Just bouts of bad crying. It was so hard to watch and to know how to comfort her. We could tell she was in pain and that she was 'out of sorts'. It was utterly exhausting for all of us. When we finally were able to get her down for night time I was nervous about what the night and next day would bring. Thankfully she slept through the night and when she woke up in the morning she came out with a smile on her face and ready to play. It was such a huge relief to see her acting like her self again. Her eyes were bloody in the whites of her eyes, but they were tracking together and the swelling had gone down.
Today she is doing great. We have gone to the park, went to an outdoor concert and read LOTS of books together. She hasn't rubbed her eyes at all and they haven't crossed at all!!
We are so thankful God gave us all the strength to get through the rough parts and are so thankful that there was an operation to fix her eyes.
Thank you all for your prayers, calls and emails. They meant so much.
Here are some pictures
HEr surgery was done at the Elks Childrens Eye Institute. They gave her an Elk stuffed animal and a blanket to take home. This is before the surgery. She loved her speical pj's too!
This is the morning after. You can see some redness in the insides of her eyes. The red pupils is from the camera. She even felt good enough to wash the car with nate.

Our sweet Sydney
Well the day is almost here for Sydney's eye surgery. It is scheduled for 8:30 am on Monday. We are all a little nervous and excited. Syd knows that she is going to get her 'eye's fixed' and understands as much as a 2 1/2 year old can. I know she is going to do great. She is such a smart kid and really can understnad so much. Please pray for her recovery. They say her eyes will be itchy and somewhat bloody. I am sure it is going to look worse than it feels, but they say she will be active and ready to go as soon as 2 -3 days after the surgery.
We will keep you posted on how it all went. Thanks for all your thoughts and prayers.
