Telemark Skiing at 5 1/2 months

Nate and I were able to get away for an afternoon to go skiing. It was a beautiful day. We had fresh tracks! I think this is the last time I will ski before baby # 2 is born. . If you are not sure what telemark skiing is, it is when you cross country ski up the hill and then you ski down. The only part of your foot attached to the ski is your toe. So to make a turn you have to do a lunge. I had quite the difficult time getting low while making turns. My legs would hit my belly. It was still fun to be out there. You can admire Nate's Christmas Mustache. It was a good one this year.

Sledding

We went up to Mt hood to do some sledding. Sydney liked it. Nate may have liked it more. We had a great time. Sydney said she was ready to try skiing when she saw the skiers!! WAHOO!

Hiking

We went hiking in Forest Park in Portland and had a great time playing in the mud and being in the rain.

different kind of christmas

So we had a different Christmas than we thought we were going to have. We went to Idaho to spend it with Nates family. We got there on Saturday and had fun playing in the snow, spending time with family and playing games. On Christmas eve Syndey woke up from her nap with one of her eyes crossed. It Stayed crossed the whole next day. Her depth perception was completly off. She would go to grab for something and be a good 8 inches off. It was kinda scary to watch. So as new parents we decided to leave Idaho on Christmas day after dinner. When we got home Sydney woke up the next morning with 2 normal eyes. A couple times during the day it crossed, but not the whole day. We took her to the Dr. and was told she has a lazy eye and that she needed to strengthen the weaker eye. So she has to wear an eye patch for an hour a day for about 2 months. She has been really good about wearing the patch. We are so thankful everything is okay and that it can be corrected. Although it was a different christmas than we had expected, we still had a great time with the family in Idaho and a great time with just our family at home.
